are just ve days away from the rst of cial day
of spring, and there’s no better time to get out and
explore some of Poinciana’s beautiful parks. Currently, our
community is home to eight parks and playgrounds that
offer our residents a stunning view of nature with room
to play, walk, workout, eat or enjoy time with friends and
family. Poinciana is home to
Vance Harmon Park, Darby
Park, Deerwood Park, Halibut
Park, Charlie Wheeler Park,
Poinciana Community Park,
Andrews Park and the Poinciana
Community Playground.
Vance Harmon Park, located
at 625 Country Club Road, is
the oldest of all of our parks,
but recently underwent a major
renovation. It is home to the Mary Jane Arrington Gym and
Aquatic Center and also features sports elds, walking and
exercise trails, two dog parks, playgrounds, restrooms and
even an amphitheater. As far as sports elds and courts go,
Vance Harmon offers places to play baseball, basketball,
beach volleyball, pickle ball, racquetball, tennis, football
and even hand ball. Vance Harmon Park hosts many of our community
events and activities, but it’s also a place everyone can enjoy on any day
of the week.
In Village II, residents are often seen enjoying Darby Park. Located on the
corner of Darby Drive and San Lorenzo, Darby Park is the perfect place
to stop and let the kids work off some pent up energy after a long day
at school. The little ones will enjoy the playground and the older ones can
shoot some hoops on the basketball court. Picnic tables are also available.
Also located in Village II is Deerwood Park, a perfect place for sports
lovers. Located at 4051 Laurel Avenue, the 35 acre, lighted park hosts
baseball and basketball games. There are also softball and soccer elds,
as well as a concessions stand and restrooms.
Springtime is the Perfect Time to
Enjoy Poinciana’s Beautiful Parks
A third park in Village II is Charlie Wheeler Park at 3900 Laurel
Avenue. This park also features multiple sports elds, but has a
playground for the younger kids to enjoy while their siblings may be at
practice.
Halibut Park is one of our pocket parks located in Village VII at 1681
Halibut Road. It features a fully-gated playground for ages 4-12. This is
a great place to let the kids run around and have some fun.
Village VII is also home to Poinciana Community Park at 5109
Allegheny Road. This is one of Poinciana’s most versatile parks complete
with a pavilion and several sporting elds including football, basketball,
soccer, baseball, cricket and volleyball. There is also a dog park with
covered seating and a playground.
