Groundbreaking October 18 on Competition Pool
in Vance Harmon Park
The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) is partnering with
Osceola County to bring a competition–style swimming pool
to Vance Harmon Park in APV. Join in the anticipation at the
Groundbreaking Ceremony on Sunday, October 18 at 9:30 a.m.
in conjunction with the Cultura Y Herencia Hispana & Feria De
Salud Festival.
The pool will have eight 25-yard lanes and a diving well.
Activities could include private and group swim lessons,
reservations for birthday parties, corporate parties and
neighborhood functions, along with Senior/Adult aerobics fitness
classes and scuba diving.
Osceola County has a Community Block Grant in place to further
develop the park with a community center and parking lot,
however, the funds are restricted and cannot be utilized to build
a pool. By partnering with Osceola County, APV will reimburse
the County for the design and construction of the swimming pool
and will own, manage and maintain the pool upon its completion.
Osceola County will also turn over management of the fully
developed park to APV within five years. APV’s Board of Directors
approved the $3.2 million construction of the swimming pool last
year and along with the $5.2 million commitment from Osceola
County to fully develop Vance Harmon Park, total funding for the
entire project is $8.4 million.
