O
f all the celebrations that the Association of Poinciana Villages holds
each year, The Annual Christmas Parade and Celebration, held this
year on December 3rd, is by far the favorite. This year’s parade, which
took months of preparation and involved every department of APV, was a
huge success! Special thanks to our General Manager, Mark Maldonado,
who led the charge, and to employees from all departments who worked so
hard to make this annual event a great day for all residents.
We would also like to thank Public Works Directors Walter Huff and
Steve Carley, who planned all the logistics of the event; from placement
of the floats, parking, traffic control and set-up of the celebration area,
to assignments for employees on the day of the event, right down to the
placement of the porta potties.
The event would also not have been possible without members of the
administration and the lifestyles team who made hundreds of phone calls to
businesses and sponsors inviting them to enter a float or to make a donation
to the event. They also contacted our various schools and invited their
marching bands to compete in the Battle of the Bands and called vendors
for bounce houses and food trucks. However, the most important of their
duties was to contact the North Pole to make sure Santa and his elves would
be making their appearance at this fun-filled day. They have never let us
down!
We also wanted to congratulate everyone who helped work on the floats
how lovely and wonderful they all turned out! And special thank you to
our guest of honor SANTA who was the star of the event. The parade route
was lined with thousands of adults and children taking in all the beautiful
floats and waving to Santa as he arrived on the APV Santa Express. After
watching the parade everyone was invited to the Celebration Area where
they were entertained by the musical talents of Alcalle. It is an annual
celebration that we are all incredibly proud to be a part of!
Furthermore, we would like to take this time to thank all our sponsors and
float entries-- without you there would be no parade! In addition, a big
thank you goes to the APV staff, Public Works and APV’s Lifestyles Program
for all your hard work and dedication to making this and every APV event
the best it can be.
Happy Holidays to you all!
